How to set up NiceHash on a Mac

To use NiceHash on a Mac, follow these steps:

  1. Download the NiceHash Flash tool.
  2. Install and run the Flash tool as an administrator.
  3. Enter your mining address. If you have a NiceHash account, the Flash tool will automatically retrieve your address when you log in. If you’re using an external BTC wallet, you’ll need to manually copy and paste your address.
  4. Configure additional settings (optional). You can set up worker names, WiFi settings, and remote access settings on the Flash tool screen.
  5. Write the NiceHash OS image to a USB flash drive with at least 8GB of storage. Click the “FLASH” button on the Flash tool and wait for the write process to complete. Once the write is successful, safely eject the USB flash drive.
  6. Insert the USB flash drive into your mining system and boot it up. NiceHash OS will automatically set up and start mining.
  7. Log in to your NiceHash account and go to the Rig Manager in the Mining section. Here, you can monitor your mining rig’s status and earnings while using NiceHash OS.

Points to note when using NiceHash on a Mac!

① NiceHash provides dedicated mining software only for Windows and Linux.

On a Mac, you need to use the NiceHash OS Flash Tool, which can be downloaded from the NiceHash website, to write NiceHash OS to a USB drive and then boot from it.

② NiceHash OS is not optimized for Mac hardware, so there may be performance and stability issues.

In particular, for Macs with an M1 chip, it might be better to use other mining software like XMRig.

③ NiceHash automatically exchanges the mined cryptocurrency into Bitcoin, but this incurs fees.

Also, transferring Bitcoin from NiceHash’s wallet to an external wallet incurs fees.

Therefore, mining on NiceHash may not always be the most efficient method.

④ NiceHash automatically selects the most profitable algorithm or coin based on mining difficulty and market price.

However, this optimization is based on NiceHash’s perspective, which may not necessarily align with personal preferences or objectives.

For example, if you’re interested in a particular coin or want to consider the environmental impact, it might be better to use other services or software instead of NiceHash.
