The Bitcoin NFT Art World
NFTs (non-replaceable tokens) first appeared on the Bitcoin blockchain when software engineer Casey Lodermore introduced the Ordinals protocol in January 2023. This made it possible to issue NFTs on the Bitcoin mainnet, and the Web3 world took notice.
This article will present some of the NFT art being issued on Bitcoin.
Ordinal Punks
Ordinal Punks, consisting of 100 NFTs issued within the first 650 Inscriptions of the Bitcoin chain, exist as a tribute to CryptoPunks. The most expensive Ordinal Punk 78 in this collection trades for 50 BTC/692.66 ETH (approximately $1,132,500).
Taproot Wizards
Taproot Wizards is an Ordinal collection of hand-drawn NFT wizards created by independent Web3 developer Udi Wertheimer. The first Ordinal in this collection recorded the largest block and transaction (4MB) in the history of the Bitcoin chain.
Bitcoin Rocks
Bitcoin Rocks continues the spirit and aesthetics of Ether Rocks, one of the first NFT collectible projects on the Ethereum chain. The first lock in this collection was issued in Inscription 71 and the supply is limited to 100.
Timechain Collectibles
Series 1 Timepieces from the Timechain Collectibles collection is a limited edition set of 21 Ordinals depicting various forms of watches. The entire collection is supported by genesis Inscriptions beginning with Inscription 356.
Ordinal Loops
Ordinal Loops is one of the lowest numbered Inscriptions in the Bitcoin Ordinals, starting with Inscription 452. This NFT is a rotating mathematical torus (donut shape) and forms the first of three scheduled series drops from the Ordinal Loops team.
Ripcache’s Power Source
Crypto artist Ripcache recently imprinted the first Ordinals on the Bitcoin chain. The artwork in this collection is named Fire, Water, Earth, and Sky and starts at Inscription 26,663.
Bitcoin Shrooms
Bitcoin Shrooms are part of Bitcoin’s early Ordinals, starting with Inscription 19. The unknown team behind this project has yet to decide whether to auction or sell the NFT.
